A fabulous opportunity to show how versatile Eclipse Choir can be came when film producers asked for singers and extras to feature in Disney ESPN’s Wimbledon Tennis Championships TV coverage to be shown in the USA.
Our choir director, James Hawkins, is also an accomplished music producer with his own ‘Chocolate Box Studio’ and around 40 members of the choir either took part in singing on the track, or performing in the film footage.
The track, Kings and Queens, originally by 30 Seconds To Mars, was chosen by ESPN so that we could create an epic, anthemic sound for their title sequences and montages. Check out the first release of the work in the run up to Wimbledon Champs starting on Monday 27th June 2016.
The Eclipse Choir singing at Centre Court in Wimbledon for ESPN
Posted by Eclipse Choir on Friday, 17 June 2016
On the day of filming, we all had to wear brilliant tennis white outfits and we were filmed at various places at the All England Lawn Tennis Club, and a few of us even got to go right to the edge of Centre Court where the players walk out from the changing rooms. It was great fun and we were well-looked after, even with the torrential rain showers we experience on the day! Thanks to ESPN and all the team for choosing our choir for the job! It was an absolute pleasure.
You all sound marvelous and look as though you are truly enjoying yourselves.
The song is anthematic and I hope it is used repeatedly; if not I hope the choir will be asked to another song for Wimbeldon.
My only question is what are the lyrics? I cannot find them anywhere and would love to be singing along. At the present all i can do is hum with the music.
Congratulations and you all are fantastic.
Hi Kathy, Thanks very much for your compliments! The song is called “Kings and Queens” and it’s by 30 Seconds To Mars. Here’s a You Tube video of the original: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTMrlHHVx8A. And here are the lyrics – although we only got to sing the chorus really. Best, Cheryl x
