Eclipse Choir competes at Choir Of The Year

Eclipse Ladies

The lovely ladies of the Eclipse COTY choir looking fabulous in red and black. Love it!

We are so proud of the 17 Eclipse singers who made it all the way to St Albans’ Arena to perform in the National Choir of The Year competition. This was our first ever group to compete, and although they didn’t make it through, they had a buzzing experience!

The choir was made up of singers from both Solar and Lunar who formed together in February this year to learn a new piece. They took on the great 70s jazz piece, Birdland, originally by Weather Report, that was then covered by Manhattan Transfer who added voices.  Jim put together the arrangement and the team studied and practised hard for 17 weeks, learning a massive amount about rhythm, groove, modulation, communicating a story through song, working together and dealing with new pressure! It’s also worth mentioning that we missed a couple of key singers on the day and we want to give those ladies a big heads up, hug and thank you too!
